Madagascar is a large island nation off the coast of Africa. Madagascar is one of the most economically impoverished nations in the world yet the nation is quite rich.
This richness is not held in money, but rather the extraordinary environment and people that call Madagascar home. This is an account of my year long stay in Madagascar as a volunteer in the ELCA’s Young Adult in Global Mission program.
I’ll be working at a farm school near Vohipeno, Madagascar. Some of my proposed duties include working the land, selling eggs and produce at the market, and teaching English. Due to a rather irksome inability to tell the future, I don’t know all different the sorts of work I’ll end up taking up, but I’m eager to join a new community!
